Former NFL defensive end Warren Sapp was arrested Monday in Arizona for allegedly soliciting a prostitute, the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office said.

Sapp, 42, allegedly assaulted two women who came to his Phoenix hotel room "as escorts" around 7 a.m. when a fight broke out, according to TMZ.com.

He was in the city covering the Super Bowl for the NFL Network. His name and bio has been removed from the channel's website and a representative told TMZ that he's been suspended without pay pending the outcome of the investigation.

Sapp played in the NFL for 13 years for two teams, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Oakland Raiders.
