Mets' Brooklyn team eliminated from playoffs on final day

Monday marked the last day of the minor league regular season. The Mets’ uppermost five affiliates finished a combined 367-269 (.577 winning percentage). Every team’s final individual record was also over .500.

MIAMI -- The Bartolo Colon trade watch has been postponed until the offseason.

The Mets did not deal the veteran righthander before Monday’s deadline for waiver trades, ensuring that he will remain under team control for the rest of the season. MIAMI -- The Mets expect pitching prospect Rafael Montero to make a spot start with the big league club before the season is finished.

“We’re probably going to get him another start here,” manager Terry Collins said on Monday, when he mentioned the possibility of a six-man starting rotation.
