Hitting the trails
The Bronx's Pelham Bay Park covers more than 2,700 acres, making it the city's largest park. It has biking and hiking trails, a salt marsh, the public Orchard Beach, riding stables, a golf course and the historic Bartow-Pell Mansion. (NYNewsday.com)
The boroughs offer hundreds of miles of paths and trails for biking.
(Eventually it will have 550 miles of on-street pathways and more than 300 miles of off-street greenways and paths). Just make sure you wear a bike helmet, bright reflective clothing and keep your eye out for pedestrians and other potential obstacles.
