Going fishin' in NYC

You might not expect to find good fishing spots in New York City -- or any fishing spots at all for that matter -- but there are several places where urban anglers can cast their lines, sit back and wait for the bites.

The spots listed below are among the most active and well-stocked fishing holes in the five boroughs, but some rules apply: Strict catch-and-release rules are in effect for any fish caught in a New York City park. Fishing is not permitted from a rented rowboat or on the bridges. Fishing is barred in Central Park's Reservoir or in Turtle Pond. Note: Check with the New York City Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) for the latest regulations before taking fish home, and check the Department of Health for consumption advisories before eating.
