Gridlock We Can Believe In: Manifesting Hope
Sunday night, my friend Jenny and I went to Manifest Hope:DC at a gallery in Georgetown. The gallery, in its own words, "shines a spotlight on artists who use their voices to amplify and motivate the grassroots movement that carried President-Elect Barack Obama to victory." In other words: Two huge rooms of art, all devoted to Obama.
Aside from one kinda creepy Barack-as-Lincoln portrait, most pieces were fantastic, especially those by D.C. artist Kelly Towles. The crowd was happy and the DJ was terrific. "I can't believe this is happening in DC," Jenny said. "I feel like I'm in Brooklyn."
If any of our readers happen to be in DC on Monday, I would definitely recommend checking it out.
