Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-Brookyln/Queens), who appeared to abandon his mayoral hopes earlier this year, said Sunday he will decide at the end of the month whether he is running for the city’s top job.

Weiner, 44, sent a letter to supporters in March saying he would suspend his campaign for the Democratic nomination to challenge Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who is seeking a third term.

Weiner, who has raised $5 million for the campaign, said he will make his decision when Congress goes into recess the last week of May.“At that point I’m going to make an announcement one way or the other,” he said.

City Comptroller Bill Thompson is running for the Democratic nod.

If Weiner runs, the two will face off in a primary in September. Bloomberg is running on the Republican and Independence Party lines.
