On my commute to work this morning, the C train conductor: "On behalf of the MTA and New York City Transit, we'd like to congratulate president-elect Obama and his family."

The whole subway car broke out into applause.

Apathy is Dead

I’ve seen a lot of people walking around with newspapers today. My co-worker bought a copy of every paper she could because she wants to save them for her grandkids. There’s a good vibe in New York today.

A good night

Hooray for small victories! I'm home in NJ tonight and I've convinced my parents to switch away from the hysteria on MSNBC. If you knew my parents, you'd know how big this is; MSNBC is on near constantly in the Boyle Abode.

In less than 12 hours the first polls will close. I am in Virginia helping a voter protection campaign. As I have been saying for months, I think Barack will win by more than 10 points across the board tonight.

Hollywood couldn’t have written Sen. Obama’s story any better. He is the true embodiment of the American dream. When they make the...

Predicting an Obama victory: The breakdown

By Meg Boyle

True story: A few months after the 2004 election, my friend Andrew and I were eating at the best Mexican restaurant in Brooklyn when Alexandra Kerry walked in. This got us talking — quietly — about the election (we had each voted for Kerry) and the sad fact that we had to put up with another four years of the Bush administration. “And when it’s finally over,...
