Alexandra Betances, a mother of one son, has worked at Ottomanelli Brothers Grill for four years, first as a waitress and now as a manager. The Italian eatery, at 1424 Lexington Ave., is a franchise of the well-loved Ottomanelli Butcher Shoppe at 1549 York Ave. at 82nd Street. Its old-school vibe tends to attract many locals and visitors.
Betances lived in this area for a year before she had to move, but said she’s glad she still works in the area.
What do you like about this part of the UES?
It’s very quiet here and very safe. The neighborhood is very family-friendly and pet-friendly. It’s a beautiful neighborhood and it’s very convenient.
What’s special about the Ottomanelli Brothers Grill?
We still get plenty regulars that come in here whether it’s for brunch, dinner or after seeing a show or talk at 92Y, we get the same regulars and they’re friendly.
What are some top menu items?
The burgers are a big seller. The pasta and the prime time steaks are also big. And of course we get all our meats from the Ottomanelli Butcher Shoppe. We make a really good in-house Sangria; that’s a popular drink here.
