Suffolk: Horsley kin will stay in county government
The Suffolk Legislature’s Presiding Officer Wayne Horsley will leave county government before month’s end. But another Horsley is remaining on the county workforce.
The county legislature last week unanimously approved a a resolution to permit Horsley’s daughter Jacqueline to a $50,000 a year job as an intergovernmental analyst I in the labor and consumer affairs department.
She had been working in a $43,000 a year job at the Suffolk board of elections. The hiring required a legislative vote under the county’s nepotism law.
Horsley said his daughter, who earlier served as an aide to Rep Tim Bishop, “has more energy than anyone I know and the county will be well served.”
