Jorge Posada met yesterday with Mets physician David
Altchek, and the Yankees hoped to finalize their decision regarding Posada's ailing right shoulder as soon as last night.
Posada expressed serious concern about his shoulder earlier this week, but Joe Girardi yesterday reiterated his optimism that Posada will not need corrective surgery. "Dr. [James] Andrews said it's much the same as before," Girardi said. "That's what I'm basing this on."
Posada met with Andrews earlier this week and also sent his MRI results to Reds physician Tim Kremchek. Posada is getting four opinions before moving forward. If they opt to go the conservative route, Girardi said Posada will be shut down from throwing for at least two weeks.
Farmhand banned. Major League Baseball said Yankees minor-leaguer Angel Reyes has been suspended 50 games after testing positive for stanozolol metabolites.
