You know, baseball used to be synonymous with all good things, American. And it was so, because of a lot of the hard work, true spirit, and values that made this country what it was through the early fifties. Then something started happening, a shift in the wind, that should have foretold the eventual coming of a major storm. Well, that storm is almost upon us, and with it, a different sort of apple pie that will surely do naught but leave a bitter aftertaste in the mouths of today's millions.

These players, as guilty as they are, will just be scapegoats. Hundreds of players will be left out, and they will get off scott free. This report is also a pure sham for 2 other reasons:

-Mitchell was granted no subpoena power, meaning that players were not obliged in any way to speak to him, consequently no one but Giambi (b/c of his idiot remarks, was threatened with suspension) did.

-Mitchell is on the board for the Red Sox. Anyone who thinks he'd ever name Ortiz, Schilling, Manny, Varitek or any of the other "heroes" from 2004 are simply fooling themselves (Ortiz pretty much admitted his use by once saying it's so hard to tell what you're taking is steroids or not, and anyone who thinks Schilling's game 6 was simply the result of a great orthopedist has his head under the sand)

SHAM!

PLEASE, will someone from the REAL/TRUE steroid era of the 70's and 80's standup and tell the truth......before testing EVERYONE used them; athletes, hollywood actors, gym goers!!!!!
After Ben Johnson won the olympics and teststed positive all athletes began using hormones, prior top that most athletes used hormones but not all.
Now, 30 years later it is hard to find one that does not....WHY?? because now athletes know the benifits of proper hormone levels and how it effects their recovery, injury prevention/healing and overall feeling of well being.
For those that are not educated on this subject it is very similar to a female using her steroid hormone, estrogen.
If you are in a parking lot and see an elderly couple walking look to see who is holding who...you will notice the woman functions much better than her husband, that is because she began hormone replacement and he never even thought of it, he simply accepted the fact he was feeling like garbage, had less memory, less function and a worsening feeling of well being.
Today it is different, hundreds of thousands of men across the usa are using hormones and simply feel great..like they should.....
WHY ARE ATHLETES NOT GIVING THE SAME RIGHT????
What we are seeing today is a turning of opinion...the fellows who wrote books or articles against these horrible male hormones 30 years ago are now writing books for their use and the benifits to proper hormone levels....Check out the link above to a HBO special called real sports....it is enlightening for the average "know it all" and education for the rest of the world.
Beleieve me when I tell you, if you thionk John Macenroe was the only tennis platyer using steroids 25 years ago your crazy.....if you think Laundis is the only tour de france rider using hormones your naive.
Testing ONLY lessens the types of hormones you can use...it does not prevent using hormones.
Unfair...cheating is what the Patriots did...stealing play signals...not using male hormones when everyone else is. Cheating is what Sosa did with the corked bat (but it was only practice)..not using steroids... Cheating is the vasoline pitchers used to place under their hat...not using steroids...cheating is cutiing your boxing gloves, not using steroids,
Education people...understand the media is manipulating you, their readers.

It is now a fact that many of the great players in any sport use drugs to enhance thier skills, all records are tainted, any player at the top of their sport is suspect. Tiger Woods? A-Rod? Mariano? Pedro? Until Blood tests are done in all sports the records will be tainted!Throw the drug addicts in Jail! And don't forget to punish the dealers too.

Two names I expect to see in the Mitchell report: Roger Clemens and Andy Pettite. As we all compare photos of Bonds now with Bonds 15-20 years ago and notice the bulking body and increasing head size, couldn't we do the same with Clemens. Doesn't anyone remember how powerful, yet trim, he was on the mound in 1986? And how about his (literal) head size? As with Bonds, Clemens' certainly seems to have grown.

And Pettite, another person who has bulked up over the last 5-7 years. While he might attribute this to his killer workouts with mentor and personal trainer, Clemens, I might blame this on his killer workouts with mentor and personal trainer, Clemens.

Don't be shocked later today. Expect it.

yeah, I don't know about jail time for steroids but I remember as a kid really enjoying a player who hit 25 homers and knocked in 90 runs. Today, some players are expected to have those stats at the All Star break. Has pitching really weakened that much?

Since we're talking about people we expect to see, I would be shocked if Clemens wasn't on that list. The only thing I can attribute his rages and tantrums to would be some kind of drug-induced state and steroids does produce that in athletes.

Kristi obviously knows nothing about steroids. Bottom line is these players have an unfair advantage over other players who don't take it. Steroids don't necessarily give you more energy, they actually make you a lot stronger and larger. Not to mention they are actually bad for a person. Why do you think you see all these deaths of athletes at such a young age from things such as heart attacks, etc. It is because of the roids.

Wow--Clemens is on the list. Now that explains why he is on the mound instead of in a nursing home. What a legacy now Roger. Never liked you anyway. You will always be a Red Sock.

I think another concern for people who don't care if players use steroids is that years down the road, after that player isn't playing any more and their body skeleton crumbles, they may die a very painful, slow death. That in its self is why we as fans should not endorse the use of these very powerful drugs. If we had more realistic expectations for players and didn't expect them to hit 50 HRs and knock in 150 RBIs every year, maybe they wouldn't feel so pressured into using steroids. The baseball culture todday unfortunately is all about winning as opposed to just enjoying the game.

This story will get more reaction than the present war in Iraq. Kids from LI are still giving their lives to this unjust war and Newsday (as well as every other paper in the US) will have this ridiculious story on the front page. As an American I am disgusted to see where our priorities are.

Why are they even releasing the report? According to white America and the media, Barry Bonds is the only one who ever juiced up. Roger Clemons, ah! What a shock!

Clemes roid rage incident in the world series seems more obvious now then ever.

And Andy, well, now we know what made up that stare.

This is no surprise, these two are workout buddies and threaten to retire every year. Why threaten? To see if they get outed as roid cheats. Look for Andy to retire.
