In the days leading up to Super Bowl XLIX, much was made about whether Richard Sherman would miss the game for the birth of his son. At the time, Sherman joked that he hoped his son would be a "disciplined young man" and stay in his mother's womb until after the game.

The baby must have gotten the message.

Sherman's girlfriend, Ashley Moss, gave birth to the couple's first child on Thursday morning, four days after Seattle's 28-24 loss to the Patriots.

Sherman, who will undergo Tommy John surgery to repair a torn elbow ligament suffered in the NFC Championship game, tweeted the news early Thursday morning, and he noted a bit of numerology on the part of his son.

"My son sure does know how to make an entrance! 2/5/15... Is it a coincidence or is he just that clever?! Either way I'm ecstatic," tweeted Sherman, who wears number 25.

Peter King of Sports Illustrated's MMQB reported the baby's name was Rayden -- likely to the dismay of Seahawks coach Pete Carroll, who joked during Super Bowl week that he couldn't wait to see "little Petey."
