Giants put 'toe in water' for Charles Woodson, per report, but don't expect a cannonball
When Charles Woodson was released from the Packers earlier this offseason, the Giants made some inquiries about the veteran safety that they considered “due diligence.” That was in February. Now it’s the middle of May and Woodson is still without a team.
And apparently the Giants are renewing their interest. Woodson’s agent, Carl Poston, told ESPN that the Giants have “just put their toe in... » more

Justin Tuck hits the right notes with rookies on d-line
One of the things that rookie defensive linemen Damontre Moore and Johnathan Hankins were so impressed by when they arrived for rookie minicamp last week was the notes that were left in their locker from Justin Tuck telling them that they should get ready to work.
Today, Tuck said he had never did anything like that before and while he did not intend for his message to go public he was happy... » more

Eli Manning thinks Victor Cruz is smart to stay quiet on contract situation
The story of the Giants offseason has been the negotiations with Victor Cruz. But for most of the process Cruz himself has remained a silent participant, declining media requests to talk about his situation as he did on Tuesday at the annual BTIG Commissions for Charity event. While he was all too happy to salsa for a good cause, he has remained mum on everything else.
One Giant who has become... » more

Eli Manning hopes Victor Cruz is back for OTAs next week
Eli Manning said he doesn’t have a sense of when Victor Cruz may sign a new contract or his tender offer and return to the Giants’ offseason workouts. He does, however, have a hope for when that happens. And it’s coming up soon.
“We get into some real practices next week (during OTAs that begin May 22) so hopefully as we get into those live going-against-the-defense practices he’ll get back... » more

Gilbride thinks Cruz's absence gives Jernigan an opportunity
You’d think the Giants’ offensive coordinator would be pulling his hair out waiting for the Victor Cruz contract situation to be resolved so he could get his star receiver (or one of them) back into offseason workouts. But no.
Kevin Gilbride said today he’s really not concerned at all about the situation, which has the Giants and the restricted free agent negotiating a long-term deal.
“I... » more

Cooper Taylor an "enigma" at safety
When Cooper Taylor walks into a locker room, people sometimes try to guess his position.
“I get a lot of quarterback, I get a lot of tight end,” the Giants’ fourth-round draft pick said today. “When I tell them safety I usually get a second look.”
Not only is Taylor unusually tall for the position – he’s a little over 6-4 – but he’s also white. There aren’t a lot of white defensive backs... » more

Justin Pugh starting to feel 'right' at home
Justin Pugh spent his first NFL workout at a place he’s not used to being: the right side of the offensive line. After three years as the left tackle at Syracuse, Pugh will be competing against David Diehl at right tackle and began that process today by playing that position.
Pugh said it was awkward to change sides “when I first did it right at the end of the season last year, but I have... » more

Hi-ho, hi-ho, it's off to work Damontre Moore goes!
When Damontre Moore showed up at his new office earlier this week, there was a note waiting for him in his locker. It was from Justin Tuck. It said, simply: “I hope you are ready to work.”
Moore says that he is, despite criticism from Tom Coughlin at the time of his third-round selection that he was a strong player on Saturdays at Texas A&M but needed to improve his performances Monday... » more

Still no Victor Cruz, but Giants are looking at his UMass wingman
Victor Cruz may not be with the Giants as of right now, but the receiver who ran opposite him at UMass is. Veteran receiver Jeremy Horne is one of the tryouts at this weekend’s rookie minicamp.
Like Cruz, Horne was an undrafted free agent in 2010 only he signed with the Chiefs. Cruz obviously signed with the Giants. That’s where their careers diverged.
And now they may be coming back... » more

Giants have four draft picks signed
These days there is very little in the way of negotiation when it comes to draft picks, particularly those beyond the first round. Usually the deals are in place when the players show up for rookie minicamp. For four of the seven Giants draft picks, that’s the case this year. The team officially signed second-round pick Johnathan Hankins, third-rounder Damontre Moore, fifth-rounder Cooper Taylor... » more
