The last time Ahmad Bradshaw played a game in Indianapolis he fell backwards into the endzone, inadvertently and perhaps unwisely scoring the winning touchdown in Super Bowl XLVI.

He may have more chances to go into that endzone facing forwards, and on purpose, this season.

The former Giants running back has agreed to terms on a one-year deal with the Colts today. Bradshaw was released by the Giants earlier this offseason after having surgery on his foot shortly after the regular season ended. He had a tryout for the Steelers a few weeks ago but was not yet physically ready to sign with them. Last week he met with the Colts.

Depending on how his battered feet hold up, Bradshaw will be an immediate upgrade to the running game of the Colts. Perhaps more importantly he will be a great pass protecting blocker for Andrew Luck.

Of course, all of that is an if. Because if the Giants thought his feet would not be an issue he’d likely still be here. And the Giants have a pretty good track record when it comes to letting guys go (Steve Smith, Derrick Ward, Brandon Jacobs, etc) just as they are running out of gas on their careers.

Bradshaw is still only 27 years old, although he has the feet of a man twice that age. It’s interesting that he signed with the Colts, a team whose logo is a horse shoe with seven holes in it. That could come in handy if they ever have to screw one to the bottom of Bradshaw’s feet to get him on the field.

Knowing Bradshaw’s toughness, he’d be up for that too.
