  • See you in September?

Only if you make the team. The Giants will start training camp on Aug. 2 but the all-important cutdown dates aren't until a month later. The roster must be reduced to 75 names by Sept. 1, and then pared down to 53 by Sept. 5.

That means at least 22 people who are on the team for the preseason game against the Patriots won't be around when the team holds its next practice.

And since we're talking about roster cuts, remember, a few players still have to go to make room for the top three draft picks who have yet to sign their contracts. Three players sign and three players go? Not so fast. Because Michael Boley (hip) will almost certainly start the season on the PUP list, that gives the Giants another spot on the active roster. And if anyone else isn't ready to go for the first few days of the camp (see below), that creates even more room on the roster.

With Boley suspended for the first game, remember, there'll actually be at least 54 players who "make" the team out of training camp. After the first game, though, one will have to go.
