Brandon Jacobs' soul not on the table
The weekly yo-yoing of Brandon Jacobs’ future with the Giants is once again on the move. Two weeks ago he floated the idea of playing for Rex Ryan and the Jets. A week ago he said that he “fully expects” to be back with the Giants in 2012. And this week?
In an interview with WNBC’s Bruce Beck, the running back said that he’d like to be back with the Giants but he is “not willing to sell my... » more

Giants kickoff scheduled for Sept. 5 (just 190 days away!)
The Giants’ shortened offseason just got another day shorter.
The Super Bowl champions will open the defense of their title on Sept. 5, a Wednesday, at MetLife Stadium. The defending champs typically open the season at home on a Thursday, but a Sept. 6 kickoff would conflict with President Barack Obama’s speech that night at the Democratic National Convention.
The game will begin at... » more

Manningham will 'see what's up' in free agency
Mario Manningham claims he never said there was a 75 percent chance that he’d wind up signing with a team other than the Giants, as was reported over the weekend, but the wide receiver who will be a free agent in two weeks did put his odds at staying with the Giants at “50 percent” in an interview on WFAN Tuesday morning.
The rest of his comments, though, made it sound far less than that.
“I... » more

Giants, Thomas talking new deal
The Giants and the agent for Terrell Thomas have been talking about a new deal for the would-be free agent cornerback, but those conversations are still in the “early stages” according to his agent, Doug Hendrickson.
Thomas was expected to be a Pro Bowl-level player for the Giants in 2011 but never played a down after tearing his ACL in the second preseason game. The Giants are understandably... » more

Mayock down on TE crop at Combine
One of the glaring needs for the Giants in this offseason is tight end. They'll probably be without Travis Beckum and Jake Ballard for the majority of the 2012 season -- both underwent ACL surgery last week after suffering injuries in the Super Bowl -- and Bear Pascoe is the only other guy on the team who has played the position.
So how's it looking at the Combine? Not very good at that position,... » more

Manningham will sign on Sunday (no, not a contract)
Mario Manningham will be getting both feet down and inbounds on Long Island, no review from Bill Belichick necessary.
Manningham may or may not be signing with the Giants – he will be a free agent in a few days – but he’ll sign for you! The Giants wide receiver (for now) will be at Cardboard memories in Smithtown at 2 p.m. on Sunday for an autograph signing.
It’s not cheap, but it’s... » more

Giants' NASCAR front honored by ... NASCAR
The Giants named their defensive front with four speedy ends NASCAR to signify how fast they were. Now three of the four will be seeing just how fast the real NASCAR drivers go.
Osi Umenyiora, Justin Tuck (just off shoulder surgery) and Mathias Kiwanuka will be at Daytona International Speedway on Sunday for the 54th running of NASCAR's Daytona 500. The players will ride in the Grand Marshal... » more

Osi would take less to stay with Giants
Osi Umenyiora still wants a new deal, but maybe it doesn’t have to be as big as he previously wanted.
The defensive end said today on Sirius Mad Dog Radio that he would be willing to take less from the Giants than he would get from a team on the open market.
“You know what’s funny? If it came down to me taking less to stay here, I would,” he said.
Umenyiora may not have a choice... » more

Report: Gilbride Jr. blocked from Bucs
When the Bucs hired Mike Sullivan to be their offensive coordinator, this was what I Tweeted:
“Mike Sullivan was a big fan of Kevin M. Gilbride's. Don't be surprised if he winds up in Tampa Bay as well as a position coach.”
The Giants blocked me from getting credit for that prediction. They also apparently blocked Gilbride. According to the NFL.com, the Bucs did in fact inquire about... » more

Cruz coming to grips with stardom
I caught up with Victor Cruz at a Steiner Sports signing at Roosevelt Field last night (the event was sold out but I’m told he’ll be back at the mall in March so keep an eye on the Steiner website for info). Most of our conversation was about Jeremy Lin, which you can read here. But we also talked a little bit about going to the Grammys.
“Definitely the sickest thing I've done so far,” said... » more
