Ramses Barden says it’s time to move on from the Giants. That may not exactly be a unilateral decision on his part, but he’s the first to say it so he gets to be the dumper and not the dumpee.
As they say on Seinfeld: He’s got hand, and (ahem), as a receiver, he’s gonna need it.
“As much fun as I’ve had in New York and I’m comfortable there, it’s probably best for me to start looking...Read more »
Now that Will Beatty is still a Giant, he wants to win a Super Bowl with the team.
“No time like the present,” the left tackle told Newsday via phone on Wednesday evening. “I mean, we’re hosting it.”
The Giants (and Jets, ahem) are hosting Super Bowl XLVIII in about 11 months. The last time the Giants won a Super Bowl Beatty was on the sideline, on injured reserve having suffered a detached...Read more »
David Diehl has spent most of his Giants career blocking for a select few Giants running backs. Tiki Barber, Brandon Jacobs, Derrick Ward, Ahmad Bradshaw. All of them, now that Bradshaw has been released this offseason, are former Giants.
Assuming Diehl doesn’t join their ranks as past-tensers by the time the 2013 season starts, he’ll be blocking for newer running backs. Second-year player...Read more »
One and a half million dollars of Mathias Kiwanuka’s base salary for 2013 has been converted to a bonus, knocking the Giants’ salary cap down $1 million for the upcoming season.
The Giants can defer the $1.5 million over the three remaining years of Kiwanuka’s contract, meaning the cap number for the defensive end/linebacker will go up by $500,000 in both 2014 and 2015. But the immediate result...Read more »
INDIANAPOLIS -- Sometimes too much information can be a bad thing, said Giants general manager Jerry Reese.
In today’s social media-drive world, information is at everyone’s fingertips within seconds – including NFL scouts. But that excess of access could potentially steer away teams from some of the top talent in the draft.
Reese said the Giants wouldn’t avoid drafting Manti Te’o 19th...Read more »
Today at the Combine, Tom Coughlin was asked about Terrell Thomas’ guess from earlier this week that the coach had “one more” year left in him.
“You know, I tried to think of something funny to say about that,” Coughlin said, “but I don’t know what to say about it.”
Well, he should have just called me. Here, free of charge, are five funny things that Tom Coughlin could have said in response...Read more »
If the Giants are looking to replace Osi Umenyiora in free agency, they may have the inside track on Dwight Freeney.
Talking on SiriusXM NFL Radio on Wednesday, Freeney, who will be a free agent in March, said he grew up a Giants fan and that it “would be a dream” to play for the team and that coming back home to New York “is definitely attractive.”
Good to know.
Of course, Freeney...Read more »
Apparently, Terrell Thomas did not think he would play for Tom Coughlin again. It wasn’t that Thomas thought he would not come back to the Giants after a third ACL injury cost him the 2012 season. It’s that he didn’t think Coughlin would.
In an interview Tuesday morning on NFL AM, the cornerback said he figured Coughlin would retire after the 2012 season.
“I thought it was this season,”...Read more »
It’s Presidents’ Day, so what better time to come up with an All-Presidential team comprised of Giants who share the same last names as our Commanders-in-Chief. Some of them are all-time greats – Lawrence Taylor, for instance, who, like Zachary Taylor, had some memorable battles against Native Amaericans (or, as we call them these days, Washington Redskins) – while many others (like several Presidents)...Read more »
Insurance? A replacement? A bargaining-chip? It’s hard to tell what the Giants see David Buehler as. Other than the obvious: the newest kicker on their roster.
With Lawrence Tynes about to become a free agent, the Giants have signed a kicker who could wind up being his replacement and at any rate signals that the team may not be expecting Tynes to return. Buehler, who was with the Cowboys...Read more »
