It hasn’t been a very good month for David Diehl. First he had to take a substantial pay cut to stick with the Giants for (presumably) one more year. Then the team went and drafted two offensive linemen. And oh, by the way, the head coach said that the first-round draft pick, Justin Pugh, will start out playing the same position that Diehl was lightly penciled into – right tackle.
The soon-to-be... » more
Chris Snee wants to say one word to Justin Pugh. Just one word. Is he listening?
One word: Plastics.
No, it’s not a recreation of the famous scene from “The Graduate.” In fact, it has more to do with being a freshman than being a graduate. Because Snee and others plan on dipping into Pugh’s first-round draft pick spoils.
“Pugh, if you are reading this, get a credit card,” Snee... » more
A week ago, John Mara urged patience and said that be believed a deal with Victor Cruz would get done eventually. But who was he telling to be patient? The media – present company included – who have been asking everyone associated with the team and the player about the situation for months? The fans, who have been clamoring for the return of the popular wide receiver?
Or maybe … his own head... » more
The Giants have had a pretty good run with their first-round picks in recent years. Not all of the players they have taken have become All-Pros and future Hall of Famers, but there hasn’t been a real stinker in a while. You have to go back to 2003 and William Joseph to find someone we could truly consider a bust.
The second and third rounds though? Not so much. And since those are the rounds... » more

For the second year in a row, Chris Canty will be trying to defend a Super Bowl title. Last year it was with the Giants and the one he earned. This year it will be with the Ravens and one he wasn’t around for. But he has some advice for his new teammates based off what he learned with the 2012 Giants.
“That Super Bowl hangover deal is real, I’ll start by saying that,” Canty said last night... » more
The last time we heard from Giants running back coach Jerald Ingram on David Wilson, he was basically skewering the rookie as not ready to play in the NFL. That was when he had the luxury of doing so because Ahmad Bradshaw and Andre Brown were handling most of the duties.
This year, though, Bradshaw is no longer with the team and Brown is coming off a broken bone in his leg. The Giants will... » more
Could a reunion between the Giants and Brandon Jacobs really happen?
“I know Brandon is hoping and praying and dying to be back a Giant,” running backs coach Jerald Ingram said last night at the ESPN The Magazine Pre-Draft party in Manhattan. “Things didn’t work out the way he wanted to a year ago. He’s an emotional guy, he wants to be on the field, he wants to do those kinds of things, wants... » more
If the Giants are going into their draft with a pure “best player available” mentality, it will be interesting to see how many rounds pass by before they take a stab at Tyrann Mathieu. The former LSU cornerback with well-documented off-the-field issues including a long list of failed drug tests in college may be one of the most talented prospects in this year’s pool of players. But due to those... » more
Yesterday Victor Cruz was a restricted free agent. Today he’s just restricted.
The deadline for any of the other 31 teams in the NFL to make an offer for Cruz came and went at midnight last night without so much as a salsa, meaning that the full rights to sign the wide receiver for the 2013 season revert back to the Giants. Cruz’ options – at least the sane, sensible options – are reduced... » more
