IMAX is short for Image Maximum, a film format that can show images larger and with higher resolution than images displayed at most movie theaters. The Museum of Discovery and Science in Fort Lauderdale has a 5-story-high single screen IMAX theater featuring 300 stadium-styled seats, a 15,000-watt digital sound system and 42 speakers.
