BackTpack, the backpack alternative

HOW MUCH: $65

DOES IT WORK? Traveling can literally be a pain in the neck and back, the reason BackTpack was designed by a physical therapist. This alternative backpack, which is worn like a sleeveless jacket, has padded adjustable shoulder straps, adjustable chest and hip straps with front clip closures, and equal-size padded compartments on either side of the body. The unique design enables users to stand, walk and sit with erect posture while carrying supplies. We packed the compartments with a laptop, clothing and a bottle of water and found that the load felt lighter than carrying it on our back or in a handheld bag. Even though the laptop side was heavier, we did not feel unbalanced. The BackTpack has multiple inner and outer pockets, some zippered, some with Velcro closures. The elastic mesh inner pockets are perfect for water bottles. Most items in the compartments are accessible even with BackTpack on.
