5-year-old Bronx girl shot in stomach by stray bullet, expected to recover
A 5-year-old girl was shot in the stomach by a stray bullet early Sunday morning outside her family's Bronx apartment building, but she is expected to make a full recovery, according to published reports.
Hailey Dominguez and her family were returning to their Hughes Avenue apartment from a baby shower around 1 a.m. when Hailey collapsed, published reports said. Her family carried her to their fifth-floor apartment, then realized she had been shot.
"We didn't know she got shot," Keyla Rosario, Hailey's 15-year-old sister, told the New York Post. "We were crying, not her."
The bullet pierced Hailey's lung, and she was reportedly taken to St. Barnabas Hospital then transferred to Columbia Presbyterian. She was in stable condition after being put in an induced coma, reports said.
Police last night said there was no suspect yet.
