A few of Google's 'Favorite Places'
New Yorkers are used to businesses with reviews displayed in their front windows, but Google is taking the concept to a new interactive level.
The Web giant has sent 3,700 decals to city businesses — from hotels to clothing stores to yoga studios — that identify them as “Favorite Places on Google.”
“This is the first time ever where we are actually sharing the most popular local business as decided by Google usage in cities across the United States,” said Elaine Filadelfo, a Google spokeswoman.
The decals also have QR codes that allow people to scan through their smart phones — with the right app — and go directly to the store’s page in Google Local Business Center, where customers can find more information. Only businesses signed up with Google qualified for the program.
