A Fifth Avenue "twin mast" lamp in need of TLC

We've always delighted in the continued survival of cast-iron "twin-mast" lamps on Fifth Avenue, which are one of the true icons of Gotham. So we were not pleased to find this one, at 28th Street, in a somewhat sad state of repair. One of the luminaires, which Forgotten NY dates to the 1940s, was dangling precariously, while the other is long gone.
This lamp, and others of its ilk, whose bottoms are often used as garbage cans, deserve much better.
