Atlantic Avenue subway stop gets Barclays makeover
Commuters who flock to the Barclays Center for Nets games and other events get an early taste of their accommodations the minute they step off the train.
A new entrance for at the Atlantic Avenue subway station opened this month following a massive renovation by Forest City Ratner Companies, the arena's developer. For the last two-years, construction crews cleaned up the station and gave it new amenities and a new name, Atlantic Avenue-Barclays CenterIt was formerly called Atlantic Avenue-Pacific Street.
The $76-million project created new turnstiles, new escalators, an elevator and a major stairwell that leads right to the center's main entrance.
Aside from creating a point of entry for Barclays visitors, the station will allowr commuters to transfer more easily among the No. 2, 3, 4, 5, B, D, N, Q and R trains.
