Beyonce lip-synced the national anthem at presidential inauguration?
Updated 6:24 p.m.: It turns out that Beyoncé's amazing vocals at Monday's presidential inauguration may have been too good to be true, and the songstress lip-synced her showstopping rendition of the national anthem, according to reports.
A spokeswoman for the Marine Corps Band, which played with Beyoncé, confirmed the lip-syncing news to The Washingtonian magazine Tuesday.
"We don't know why Beyoncé decided to use prerecorded music," the spokeswoman said. "All music [at inaugural ceremonies] is prerecorded as a matter of course, and that's something we've done for years and years. The Marine Band ... received last-minute word that Beyoncé wanted to use the recording."
However, later in the day, another Marine Corps Band spokesman would only confirm that the band's music was prerecorded and wouldn't comment on Beyoncé, saying he's not "in a position to assess whether it was live or prerecorded," accoriding to the Associated Press.
Meanwhile, Kelly Clarkson belted out - and did not lip-sync - "My Country 'Tis of thee" at the inauguration, according to TMZ.com.
