ABC Carpet & Home: ABC Kitchen

Because people with good taste usually flock together, Jean-Georges Vongerichten brought ABC Kitchen to ABC Carpet & Home - and the food instantly won praise from critics and interior decorators alike. The seasonal menu looks to local farmers and purveyors for inspiration in dishes such as kabocha squash toast with ricotta and vinegar ($10), roasted beets with housemade yogurt ($9), and kasha and bowtie pasta with veal meatballs ($16-24).
J&R: J&R Café

After you've tracked down the latest gadgets on your gift list, you'll want to refuel. Luckily, you don't have far to go: The J&R Café serves food that's inspired by the Mediterranean, from espresso-based drinks and pastry choices more substantial food, including burgers, pizzas, crepes and salads.
Lord & Taylor: Sarabeth's

Manhattan's adored bakery is nestled on the fifth floor of Lord & Taylor, where shoppers can stop in for tasty brunchtime treats, such as fluffy omelets, lemon-ricotta pancakes and a roasted chicken Cobb salad, all served in a comfortable interior dining room. Sarabeth's also operates a cafe counter one flight up, offering a pared-down menu of coffee, sweets and light bites.
Bloomingdale's: Magnolia Bakery

What better way to recharge than with a super-sweet $3 cupcake? The beloved cupcake mecca opened up shop on the ground floor of Bloomie's 59th Street over the summer and, predictably, became a huge hit with shoppers. On Black Friday, try November's cupcake of the month: the Snickerdoodle, made with cinnamon cake, meringue icing and a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar.
Barneys New York: Fred's

On the top floor of Barneys sit stylish Europeans, Park Avenue ladies of an indeterminate age - and isn't that a celebrity over there? Fred's is department-store dining at its absolute finest, where the beautiful people refuel before another round of Proenza Schouler. Yes, the Niçoise salad is $31 and a bowl of lobster bisque is $15, yet the food is heartily prepared and the room so sophisticated and classic Manhattan that it fully justifies the holiday-time splurge.
Bergdorf Goodman: Bar III

The BG Restaurant in the main Bergdorf Goodman building is known for its Kelly Wearstler designs and lovely views of Central Park. The gentleman who chooses to look inward, however, will find solace at Bar III on the third floor of Bergdorf's men's store. The intimate semicircle of marble-topped tables looks smart and sharp. Deviled eggs ($9), the popular Gotham salad made with chicken, ham, Gruyère, tomatoes, beets, bacon, egg, lettuce, and Thousand Island dressing ($20), and a classic cocktail list all make an appearance.
Time Warner Center: Bouchon Bakery

Suburban teenagers have a unique mall culture, whereas Manhattan kids have the Time Warner Center, a shopping palace where the "food court" is by Thomas Keller. Although the high-school set (or most average folks, for that matter) is hardly springing for Per Se, the third floor of the mall houses Bouchon Bakery, Keller's more casual outpost. At the takeaway counter and the sit-down restaurant, the food is a cut above; try the cashew-butter and jelly sandwich, soup and grilled cheese, or the TKO - the fanciest Oreo ever, reinterpreted using a chocolate sable dough and a sweet-white chocolate ganache.
Saks Fifth Avenue: Café SFA

Part of the fun of shopping at a store like Saks is breaking for a nice lunch, and this comfy café - located on the top floor of the department store - doesn't disappoint. After enjoying the famous bread basket, start off with a cup of creamy Maryland crab and corn chowder ($9) before enjoying a traditional Greek salad ($21) or portabella & Gruyere grilled cheese with avocado, tomato and rosemary remoulade ($19). Classic views of Rock Center and St. Patrick's Cathedral add to the experience.
