Car crashes into MTA bus injuring a dozen
An MTA bus collided with a car that blew through a stop sign in Crown Heights Monday, seriously injuring at least 12 people.
The car was traveling east on Herkimer Street when the driver went through a stop sign at Albany Avenue, striking a B15 bus, shortly after 4:30 p.m. There were 41 people injured, including the car's driver and passenger, FDNY and NYPD said. The injured people were taken to Kings County and St. Johns hospitals.
Before the accident, the driver had struck a police vehicle, prompting a search of the car that turned up a firearm, causing the driver to flee, police said. The two men were arrested and taken to Kings County hospital with minor injuries to their legs and chest.
