CD Review: 'Dungeonesse' -- 3 stars
They lurk everywhere, hidden in our Pandora lists and the sordid corners of our DVRs: guilty pleasures. It’s become a contrarian pastime to say that no joy, however juicy, should be considered unworthy and require no ironic preface. Clearly this is true for Dungeonesse, comprising pals Jon Ehrens and Jenn Wasner. A deconstruction of sorts of the sweet club jams of yesteryear, there is more love at play here than cool calculation, and Wasner’s electronic croon makes bass-heavy, window rattlers like “Cadillac” nigh indistinguishable from the objects of their affection.
