Charlotte cop facing charges in death of accident victim who was apparently seeking assistance
A Charlotte, N.C., cop is facing manslaughter charges for shooting a man who apparently was seeking help after a car crash.
Officer Randall Kerrick, 27, was charged with shooting Jonathan A. Ferrell, 24, a former Florida A&M football player who early Saturday apparently sought help from a home where the woman inside thought he was trying to rob her, according to the Charlotte Observer.
"Our investigation has shown that Officer Kerrick did not have a lawful right to discharge his weapon during this encounter," police said.
All three cops involved in the incident were placed on paid administrative leave.
