Cheap$kate: FREE events in NYC this weekend
Medieval Festival at Fort Tryon Park
Dust off your suit of armor, brush up your horse’s mane, brew up a pint of mead and take a step back into the Middle Ages at this year’s Medieval Festival at Fort Tryon Park. (Don’t actually show up with a horse, though — or with mead, for that matter; we were being colloquial.) Stroll through the area surrounding the Cloisters, a museum of medieval art in Fort Tryon Park that’s associated with the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and observe a medieval market town with performers, music, magic, minstrels, jesters — you name it. After you’ve indulged in all the revelry, be sure to stick around for a knights’ joust. (Sunday, 11:30 a.m.-6 p.m., FREE, starts at Margaret Corbin Circle, 190th St. and Fort Washington Ave., whidc.org/home.html)
