The Chapin Sisters sing old-time country songs
As January nears to a close, The Chapin Sisters are rounding out their month performing at Pete's Candy Store. Stop by this Thursday to hear the duo - originally from Los Angeles, now New York dwellers - play some old-time country songs. The sisters put their spin on their favorite classic Nashville tunes, most made popular by other sibling acts like the Everly Brothers, the Louvin Brothers and the Davis Sisters. (Thursday, 9 p.m., FREE, Pete's Candy Store, 709 Lorimer St., Williamsburg, 718-302-3770, petescandystore.com)

Solar Art Reliquaries Family Days Workshop
This week's cold wave makes it difficult to remember what it feels like to bask in the sun's warmth. With this workshop, at least you can make solar-sensitive art that will hold you and the family over - a little. Bring the kids to BRIC Rotunda Gallery this Saturday to create solar art reliquaries, solar collages and magic reliquaries using light-sensitive paper and other materials. The workshop - part of BRIC's Family Days contemporary art programming for families and kids - is inspired by the gallery's current photography exhibit, "En Foco: New Works/Crossing Boundaries." (Saturday, noon-3 p.m., FREE, BRIC Rotunda Gallery, 33 Clinton St., Brooklyn Heights, 718-683-5604, bricartsmedia.org)
