A 37-year-old Chinatown man was arrested and was undergoing a psychiatric evaluation at Bellevue Hospital on Thursday after allegedly holding his landlord hostage and menacing him with a knife, police said.

Cops arrived at 197 Madison Ave., near Rutgers St., at 9:10 a.m. after the landlord, a man in his 40s, managed to break free from his captor and leap from a second-story window onto the ground. He was taken for treatment at Bellevue, "with some cuts on his face -- nothing life threatening," said a police spokesman.

At about 12:10 p.m., the NYPD gained entry to the apartment and the tenant surrendered, police said.
