Chris Brown denies alleged pickup line: 'I promise I won't beat you'
We're sure you've heard something about the varying levels of outrage surrounding the fact that Chris Brown was invited to perform on last week's Grammy Awards not once, but twice.
There have been numerous celebrity tweets denouncing the performances (to which Brown responded with a barrage of scarily combative tweets that have since been removed), as well as writer Sasha Pasulka's in-depth Hello Giggles article "I'm not okay with Chris Brown performing at the Grammys and I'm not sure why you are," which went viral, furiously making the rounds via Facebook and Twitter.
Adding fuel to the fire, Us Weekly reported Thursday that the 22-year-old singer - who pleaded guilty in 2009 to felony assault for beating then-girlfriend Rihanna - approached an "attractive brunette" on Feb. 10 at a Grammy gifting suite and asked, "Can I get your number? I promise I won't beat you," according to the woman herself.
"He and his friends laughed, then one yelled, 'That's his new line!' Ugh. I wanted to throw up," said the source.
Brown denied that ever happened, issuing this statement to TMZ.com: "That is absurd and absolutely not true. I did not say that, nor would I joke about that."
