Computer woes briefly put brakes on Citi Bikes
A computer glitch forced cyclists hoping to use the new Citi Bikes to find alternate transportation Thursday morning.
The bike-share service tweeted around 10 a.m. that it was "temporarily unable to process credit cards at stations or online" -- the only method for paying for the bikes. About an hour later, CitiBike issued a follow-up tweet: "We're back."
The service was launched in late May, with more than 500,000 trips being logged in its first month. The blue bikes can be rented by the day, by the week or through $95 annual memberships.
