Construction resumes at MTA site where worker was killed
Work has resumed at an MTA construction site where a worker was crushed to death by a faulty crane last week, officials announced Monday.
Construction on the No. 7 subway extension to the far West Side was halted Wednesday, a day after the crane collapsed and killed 30-year-old Michael Simmermeyer as well as injuring four others. The MTA ordered inspections on all of the cranes being used at its construction sites after the accident.
The MTA said the crane involved in the incident has been taken out of use, though other cranes were being used at the site Monday afternoon.
