Cops Sunday named the reputed gang member they chased and shot after he rammed into one of the officers while trying to flee in Staten Island.

Two detectives and an officer from the Staten Island Gang Squad stopped a car at Manor Road and North Gannon Avenue around 1:15 p.m. Saturday after they received reports that the driver, Clinton James, had an illegal gun, police said. An officer shot at James in the torso after he tried to reach for a loaded gun, police said.

The suspect, who cops say has a long arrest record with gun-related charges and is a gang member, ultimately crashed the car into a pole and tried to run before he was caught.
