Courtney Love lost the rights to Kurt Cobain's name -- to her daughter
Kurt Cobain's daughter is stepping up.
Frances Bean Cobain, the only daughter of Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love, has taken control of the publicity rights for her grunge icon father's name, likeness and appearance, according to The Fix.
The rights could be worth a fortune, former Cobain estate attorney Jonathan Faber told the site.
Love, who has struggled with drugs and alcohol, lost custody of her now 19-year-old daughter to Frances' paternal grandmother and Cobain's sister. Cobain commited suicide in 1994 at age 27.
Documents reportedly show that Love agreed to step down as acting manager of End of Music LLC, the business in control of Cobain's publicity rights, back in 2010.
Frances gained control after fronting her mother a massive $2.75 million loan. Love remains a company member, but Frances has the final word in any business concerning Cobain's image.
