  • Cure that New Year's hangover with these eats

    Ah, the morning after. The perfect time to rehash the New Year’s debauchery and soak up some of that excess alcohol with equally indulgent fare. Try one of these tasty New Year’s Day brunches.

    The Breslin

    16 W. 29th St., 646-214-5788

    This meat-heavy restaurant in the Ace hotel may be the perfect spot for a hearty morning-after meal. The hearty English breakfast and and thrice-cooked chips may be just what you need to get back on your feet again. Brunch will be served from 7 a.m.-4 p.m. We dare you to try and get up by 7.

    Lyon

    118 Greenwich Ave., at 13th St., 212-242-5966

    This new West Village restaurant, specializing in Lyonnais cuisine, is holding a hangover brunch, from 11:30-4 p.m. The menu features $6 Bloody Marys or Champagne cocktails and a Recovery Platter, with four eggs, bacon, steak hash browns, served with a jug of bloody mary or mimosa.

    Michael Jordan's The Steak House

    Watch the Metro-North commuters do their walks of shame from this restaurant set on a balcony overlooking Grand Central. Brunch will be served from 11 am -4:30 p.m. Try some hair-of-the-dog action with the chef’s bacon bloody bull cocktail made with bacon-infused vodka ($10) or dig into a hanger steak sandwich, with apricot caper jam, swiss cheese and red peppers ($17).

    Octavia’s Porch

    40 Avenue B at Third Street, 212-677-4096

    We don’t know about you, but a challah egg sandwich with homemade sausage and cheddar cheese ($12) sounds pretty good to us post-debauchery. This Jewish cuisine restaurant from “Top Chef” alum Nikki Cascone will be open from noon-3:30 p.m., serving specialties such as beef and veal kreplach and matzah ball soup.

    The Vanderbilt

    This Prospect Heights restaurant (which specializes in small plates) will offer a $35 per person brunch, which includes Stumptown coffee, Bloody Mary, bellini, dew drop or orange juice. Food options include beignets, steak with sunnyside eggs, bratwurst and more. 11 a.m.- 3 p.m.

    Donatella

    184 Eighth Ave., btwn 19th and 20th sts., 212-493-5150

    This new East Village pizza and pasta spot from restaurateur Donatella Arpaia is offering one of the very best hangover cures the city has to offer with a New Year's Day brunch menu featuring a Cheribundi Cherry Cure Cocktail (offered with or without rum, $12/6), meant to have headache-curing properties and hangover pizza ($15), made with smoked mozzarella, eggs and white truffle oil.

    Pulino’s Bar and Pizzeria

    Speaking of pizza, New Year’s Day is a great time to try one of Pulino’s egg-topped breakfast pizzas ($9-$19) or pizza dolci (topped with sweets such as nutella and jam), $8-15. Brunch is served from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m.
