Digital Downtown: A WTC vision that will never be

The Digital Downtown consumer electronic expo that began Thursday may be part of the downtown renaissance, but the image of the future World Trade Center it promotes on its Web site has long ago been discarded into the never-built bin.
The image you see above, pulled from the expo's Web site, is one of the earlier visions for the World Trade Center site, a bizarre collaboration between architect David Childs and master planner Daniel Libeskind. The image comes as one of several that rotates every time your refresh the page.
The current vision is shown below. But with Gov. Paterson's nosing around on Ground Zero finances, you just never know.
