Drugs may have fueled Miami cannibalism incident

The episode of cannibalism on Miami's MacArthur Causeway on Saturday may have been the result of an LSD-like drug known as "bath salts," an emergency room physician at Jackson Memorial Hospital told The Miami Herald.
"Cocaine-induced psychosis" could also explain why Rudy Eugene, 31, continued to eat the face of another man despite police orders to stop, a police source told the paper. Eugene was shot to death by police after refusing to obey their commands.
The victim, who has yet to be identified and is believed, like Eugene, to be homeless, is in critical condition at Jackson Memorial.
