Facebook adds same-sex relationship avatars
Facebook this week began rolling out new relationship avatars for same-sex couples wanting to declare their love on the social network.
Chris Hughes, co-founder of Facebook, married his partner Sean Eldridge on Saturday, updating his marriage status soon after with the new icon and a photo of the couple.
The marriage icon originally was a heterosexual "cake topper" couple but the recent addition includes both gay and lesbian options.
In February 2011, Facebook included "In a Civil Union" and "In a Domestic Partnership" in their relationship options, earning the social media company a Special Recognition Award from GLAAD this June.
