Fallon, Leno joke about 'Tonight Show' rumors as new info emerges
A possible turnover for "Tonight Show" hosts may have a locked start date, according to a report.
NBC will not terminate Jay Leno's tenure before his contract expires in September 2014, TMZ.com said Thursday. The network, has kept mum, on the rumors.
Rumors have been circulating that the network will replace Leno with "Late Night" host Jimmy Fallon and bring the iconic show back to New York.
Both comedians made veiled refereces to the rumors and NBC during their monologues Wednesday night. .
Leno: According to several reports, scientists say they are getting closer and closer to being able to do "Jurassic Park" style cloning of extinct species. Imagine that, things that were once thought to be extinct could be brought back from the dead. So, there's hope for NBC. It could turn around.
Fallon: Before we get started, I have to talk about the rumors that started today that I'll be moving up to 11:30. Or as my parents call it, 'Still too late!' Actually the rumors are true, NBC is turning the "Tonight Show" into a diving competition -- so exciting.
