Fans will pay more for bleacher seats at Yankee Stadium
Bleacher Creatures at Yankee Stadium have something else to get riled up over: increasing ticket prices.
Bleacher seats for the upcoming season will now cost $20, a 33% jump from last year, the Yankees announced Tuesday as part of their 2012 pricing plans. Those seats were $15 in 2011 and $12 in 2010.
Yanks management tried to diffuse the price hike by saying more than 70% of seats will cost the same or lower, and that more than 1.3 million tickets will cost $30 or less.
Among the sections that will be reduced are Field Level outfield areas in fair territory.
Starting Friday, the team said it will also offer three new plans, including a nine-game "value plan" starting at $90.
Last month, the Mets announced that none of their seats would have price increases for 2012 and most would be reduced.
The Yankees, meanwhile, remained the most popular team in the American League in paid home attendance last season, attracting more than 3.6 million customers.
