  • Fantasy Football: To win, make sure you always play matchups

When setting your lineups each week, it's easy to just run through your available players and pick the best ones to start at each position. However, one of the most important elements in winning at fantasy football is considering the matchups each of your players face and adapting accordingly.

Granted, there are certain players that are so talented, matchups need not be considered. If you have players like Aaron Rodgers (QB, Packers), Arian Foster (RB, Texans) or A.J. Green (WR, Bengals), it doesn't really matter who they play. They should be in your lineup.

However, your lineup will inevitably have some weaker spots, and the best way to make up for that is to build up depth at those positions and play the matchups.

This year, be wary of competing against top-notch defenses like the Bears, 49ers, Seahawks, Cardinals and Steelers. Others like the Giants, Pats, Bucs and Dolphins have been tough against the run but weak against the pass.

Meanwhile, teams like the Cowboys, Ravens, Falcons and Jets have been stifling against the pass while weaker against RBs.

On the flip side, if you have a player going up against the Saints, Titans, Raiders or Bills, you should be pretty excited regardless of who that player is or what position he plays.

With all that in mind, here are some players worth starting and sitting this week:

    Start
Brandon Marshall (WR, Bears) vs. Titans
Michael Vick (QB, Eagles) vs. Saints
Ben Tate (RB, Texans) vs. Bills

    Sit
Chris Johnson (RB, Titans) vs. Bears
Tony Romo (QB, Cowboys) vs. Falcons
James Jones (WR, Packers) vs. Cardinals
