Fashion Week: A star-struck Olympic gold medalist

A gold medal doesn’t equal immunity from being intimidated by celebs. Gymnast Nastia Liukin was at a loss for words when she met singer Avril Lavigne at Avril’s Abbey Dawn fashion show earlier this week. “She asked to take a picture with me and I was kind of star-struck,” Nastia told us before Max Azria. Also front row at Max Azria was singer Estelle, who we managed to catch up with after the show. “I’ve seen everything,” said Estelle, referring to the number of shows she's seen so far at Fashion Week. “I’m ready to call it a day.” When asked which was her favorite, she quickly answered, “Catherine Malandrino,” before striking yet another pose for the cameras. “It was amazing and the colors were beautiful.” Estelle was also at the Marc Jacobs after-party Monday night, where one of our Newsday colleagues asked her about the now infamous Kanye West-Taylor Swift incident that occurred Sunday night. “I honestly think that Hennessy had something to do with it,” said Estelle, who collaborated with Kanye on the song "American Boy."
