Fashion Week: Isaac Mizrahi Fall 2011 show report
Cake! Poodles! Fashion! Yes, Isaac Mizrahi’s runway had it all.
The fabulously fun designer showed off his personality by creating the kookiest show we’ve seen this season — and one that might anger some animal-rights activists. Models walked down the runway carrying an atypical fashion show accessories: dyed poodles. Seriously.
A model wearing a bright-pink gown toted a bright-pink poodle; a gal donning a yellow frock trotted along with a sunshine-color pooch. And the canines weren’t the only out-of-the-ordinary element. Interspersed among the female models were male models carrying cakes — made by “Cake Boss” Buddy Valastro’s Carlo’s Bakery — that also coordinated with the clothing (appropriately, the show was dubbed “Cake”).
Now, on to the clothing (forgive us if we forgot about it because of the dog-dessert spectacle). The architectural gowns, frocks, pants and skirts were stunning in a range of bright hues — pink, purple, sherbet, yellow — as well as gray. The styles would’ve grabbed us on their own — even without Mizrahi’s hullabaloo.
