Final season of 'Mad Men' to be split into two sections, AMC says
"Mad Men" is getting the "Breaking Bad" treatment.
The final season of the 1960s-era drama, set to air this spring, will be split into two, seven-episode sections, the first of which will be called "The Beginning," AMC said Tuesday. It's the same format that was given to "Breaking Bad," which is currently finishing the second half of its final season. Both shows are on AMC.
Both halves will be shot at the same time, meaning that latter portion of the season (called "The End of an Era") will essentially be in storage until it airs sometime in 2015, the network said.
"We plan to take advantage of this chance to have a more elaborate story told in two parts, which can resonate a little bit longer in the minds of our audience," showrunner Matthew Weiner said in a statement.
