For $50, spend Mondays with McQueen
Fifty dollars may not go far at the Alexander McQueen store, but it will buy you some extra time with "Savage Beauty," the exhibit devoted to the late designer's work at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Starting June 6, the Met is offering $50 tickets for special access to the exhibit on Mondays, a day when the museum is usually closed. The measure was instated due to the exhibit's overwhelming popularity.
"We've been getting almost 400 people every half-hour in the show during regular hours," said Harold Holzer, the Met's senior vice president of external affairs.
This is not the first time the Met has offered Monday access to a blockbuster show - they did it most recently for "Van Gogh Drawings" in 2005. And while $50 may seem steep, viewers are willing to pony up.
"It's a service - it's extra time," Holzer said. "And I think that there are people who are happy to pay for it."
