    Tastings aplenty at ‘Harvest in the Square’: Next Thursday at 7:30 p.m., some of Union Square’s finest restaurants will participate in the 14th annual Harvest in the Square, located in the Union Square West Plaza. This year sees the largest number of participants, including high-profile eateries such as Sushi Samba and Todd English’s Olives New York. Proceeds from the event benefit the Union Square Partnership’s neighborhood programs. Tickets are $115 in advance and $125 at the door and can be purchased at harvestinthesquare.org.

    Oktoberfest kickoff:
    Starting at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Blaue Gans (139 Duane St.) will celebrate Oktoberfest with Austrian street food straight from a sausage cart, and live music. Later on that night, Austrian marching band TMK Nussdorf will perform out front and The Schwarzenegger Connection will perform inside. Through Oct. 10, Blaue Gans is offering special menu items, new brews and live bands in honor of Oktoberfest. For more, visit kg-ny.com.

    Free ice cream for moms-to-be: In celebration of the pregnancy of chef Daniel Angerer’s fiancee and business partner, Lori Mason, Klee Brasserie (200 Ninth Ave.) is offering free ice cream to moms-to-be.     Tasting benefit for schools:
    Popular West Village restaurants are cooking to raise money for P.S. 3 and P.S. 41. On Sunday, from noon to 4 p.m., places such as August, The Little Owl and Marumi will provide dishes, paired with wine, craft beers and cocktails mixed by top bartenders. Children can enjoy the street performers and games. The tasting will take place at The Yard at P.S. 41, at Greenwich Avenue and Charles Street. Visit tastethewestvillage.org for more information.

    Rosa Mexicano celebrates Mexican Independence Day: To mark the restaurant’s 25th anniversary and Mexican Independence Day, Rosa Mexicano is offering a special $42 three-course, prix-fixe dinner menu through Sunday.
