Former Mayor Ed Koch out of the hospital and ready to par-Tay!
Former Mayor Ed Koch was released from the New York Presbyterian Hospital Monday morning and ready to celebrate his 88th birthday Wednesday night at Gracie Mansion.
"He's already been to his office to work on his column," that Koch sends out to followers by email, said his spokes man, George Arzt.
The $100 a ticket birthday celebration will be a "reunion of the Koch administration," with many other present-day politicians, including Mayor Michael Bloomberg and mayoral hopeful Christine Quinn, in attendance, said Arzt. "Everyone is calling to come," said Arzt, noting that proceeds from the event fund to the restoration of Gracie Mansion.
At a Monday news conference following his six day hospitalization, Koch and his medical team revealed that the cause of Koch's most recent hospitalization - his second in three months - was the influenza A virus, despite his having received a flu shot earlier this year. He told reporters he felt "terrific."
